still from the film "Reas” by Lola Arias
Film program of the second edition of the HER Docs Forum is already announced and online!
HER Docs Forum - a forum of women's documentary cinema is an international event presenting non-fiction filmmaking and supporting women documentary filmmakers. The second edition of the HER Docs Forum will take place on September 5-8, 2024 in Warsaw.
The search for new languages, means of expression, as well as new sensitivity in the world of documentary film are the main themes of this year's edition of the HER Docs Forum. During the event, the Warsaw audience will see documentaries shown and awarded at leading festivals in the world.
In a world where documentaries increasingly combine elements characteristic of various fields of art, such as performance or film experiment, we will also focus on the increasingly blurred boundaries of documentary cinema. Are they still possible to define today?
The film program includes:
🔵 Screenings of documentaries by women who have achieved success at international festivals and have been loved by audiences:
"Everything Needs to Live" ("Все має жити") dir. Tetiana Dorodnitsyna, Andrii Lytvynenko,
"Bye Bye Tiberias" dir. Lina Soualem,
"Teaches of Peaches" dir. Judy Landkammer, Philipp Fussenegger,
"Shahid" dir. Narges Kalhor,
"Reas" dir. Lola Arias,
"All You See" dir. Niki Padidar,
"Abortion Dream Team" dir. Karolina Lucyna Domagalska.
🔵 Special screening of the film "The Little Gluers": Centrum Kultury Filmowej im. Andrzeja Wajdy, al. Ujazdowskie 20, 00-478 Warsaw (free admission)
🔵 A showcase of Polish short films that push the boundaries of documentary cinema.
🔵 Conversations with invited guests and meetings with foreign and Polish filmmakers.
As part of the showcase of Polish short films, which is a continuation of the New Faces section of the HER Docs Film Festival, the Warsaw audience will be able to learn more about the work of Polish and/or Polish-based filmmakers created over the last two years.
Film screenings at Kinoteka will be accompanied by conversations with invited guests and meetings with foreign and Polish filmmakers.
In cooperation with the SOUNDS OF SILENTS. 2. Warsaw Days of Silent Film review, organized by the Siostry Archeo collective and the Futurospection Foundation, and the Centrum Kultury Filmowej im. Andrzeja Wajdy (al. Ujazdowskie 20), on September 7th at 4:00 p.m. there will also be a special screening of the film "The Little Gluers" ("Die kleinen Kleberinnen", 1981) directed by Heide Breitel and Eva-Maria Hammel, a film lecture "Women's Work in the Early Years of the Film Industry" by Martin Koerber preceding the screening, and a discussion with Polish women editors after the film.
