Madonna Adib
Madonna Adib was born in 1986 in Damascus, Syria. She received her BA in Fine Arts from the University of Damascus – Faculty of Fine Arts in 2008. She has experience as a graphic designer and worked as a video editor in various projects. In 2008, she was part of a visual poetry show in the Damascus Opera House that combined poetry, dance, music and a 45-minute video that she made. Madonna Adib went on to continue her studies in Film Animation at the Concordia University – Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema, from which she received a BA degree in 2012. She worked in many production houses as a DOP, video editor, and animator. She created experimental documentaries and experimental short drama films that were screened at film festivals and in contemporary art museums in Europe, Canada, Syria, Turkey and other places around the world. She is also one of the six founders and a photographer in the project Syrian Eyes of The World that was created in 2014. She currently lives in Beirut, Lebanon and works as a freelance photographer, editor, animator and an independent filmmaker. In 2016, she worked as a photographer with the Canadian National Film Board for a film that was shot in Beirut, revolving around the Syrian refugee crisis. She is currently working on several projects, including being an associate producer for the film “Maram”, directed by Samer Beyhum, about a child who sells roses in the streets of the city, as well as being the writer and director of several documentaries and a short fiction, one of which is produced by Parabola Films and the other by Bidayat.
